Painted on the surface of a rusty beer can, this portrait of Kyle captures more than the face of an aging man. It reflects society's uneasy relationship with time. Like the can, once shiny, full of purpose. Kyle feels the press of years, an internal voice echoing fears of lost value, of being discarded, replaced. this piece challenges that narrative. The rust, wrinkles, fading tones not signs of decay, but endurance, worth that deepens, not fades. Aging in not the end of beauty, but a shift in form. Its not youth we must cling to, but the grace in change.

This piece is framed and hung in the 2025 Lester Prize.
